About Jani Achrén

While pursuing my M.Sc. in Astronomy, I have participated in manufacture of several large-scale optical components such as Swedish Solar Telescope, grinding and polishing the mirrors and the lens, and polishing trial mirros with polishing technique that eventually was chosen for the Herschel Space Observatory mirror.

After graduation I received a Japanese MEXT scholarship, which was the start of how I ended up in a Japanese optical manufacturing company Vixen Co,. Ltd, designing commercial telescopes and accessories.

Since moving back to Finland, I’ve designed several optical applications, including an achromatic vacuum-chamber microscope and an optical calibration unit for ESO SOXS telescope, for which I design and assemble both optical and mechanical components.

And here we are.
